What We Do Is Secret is a 12" compilation of material recorded by the Germs and released posthumously by Slash Records in the United States in 1981 as SREP-108.

This EP has been become very rare again in my opinion. I would like to thank Streetpunx @

The Undead - I Made A Monster

I Made A Monster is a fun charged punk EP that features three songs. While the title track is guitar heavy with haunting horror punk styled lyrics, the B-sides, “Sometimes You Gotta Laugh At Yourself” and “I Go Ape” are catchy punk songs with simple chord progressions and raspy vocals. It sounds a lot like The Dickies, but around 100 times slower. You could definitely hear the old school punk sound, but it has a few stabs of horror punk goodness in it. Even though it’s is a lo-fi recording and it does sound a little tired at times, it adds to the scratchy charm of the EP.

The Manic Low - Song's For A Up Day

TSOL's Jack Grisham returns with his new group, the Manic Low, who will be releasing their debut album on June 12th.
The Manic Low's debut release, Songs For An Up Day, shows punk legend Grisham's pop sensibilities with guitar-driven tunes.

MediaLab sent over these details: Drawing heavily from Grisham's 60's & 70's musical upbringing, combined with an infectious guitar-driven, garage rock pulse, the Manic Low offer up 14 warm and undeniably catchy tracks that will leave listeners craving more. the Manic Low's "Songs for an Up Day," features several notable punk rock veterans including Sean Greaves (The Joykiller, Mike Ness Band), Paul Roessler (The Screamers, 45 Grave, and Nina Hagen) and Rob MiLucky (Devil's Brigade). Also appearing on the record is Steve Soto (Agent Orange, Adolescents, Manic Hispanic).

"Sometimes records just happen – like car wrecks. I walked into Moonlight Graham to do a spoken word show and I walked out making a hard-pop record," says Jack Grisham.

Over his storied musical career, which spans nearly three decades, Jack Grisham has continually combined unique musical influences. From the aggressive punk rock power of TSOL, to the goth-tinged darkness of Cathedral of Tears, and the pop-infused hooks of the Joykiller, the singer has constantly explored new musical territory with each of his bands. the Manic Low, sees the return of the partnership between Grisham and guitarist Sean Greaves, whose own pop-punk sensibilities were quite evident in the Joykiller.

"It's great writing with Greaves again, because it's a rare thing to connect on an emotionally underdeveloped level as we do – two big kids, sitting around the living room, bitching about personal liberty as we craft pop tunes," adds Grisham.

"To many who only know Jack Grisham as the frontman for TSOL, the Manic Low is a radical departure from the raw energy of punk rock," says Bart Silberman, President and Founder of Moonlight Graham Records. "Grisham is a true musical chameleon and shows us a completely different side on "Songs for an Up Day." Longtime fans will instantly recognize his undeniable voice and passionate and sometimes darkly-tinged lyrics, but the Manic Low will also find a new legion of fans with a more melodic, pop-driven sound."

"Fans of The Smiths, The Jam, The Stranglers, and even old hippies who dig The Beatles are gonna be down with the Manic Low!" asserts Jack Grisham's mother.

The Undead - Til Death!

This is when I personally came to know Bobby Steele. We have been friends ever since. This was a great follow up to Act Your Rage.

Bobby has recently reissued these albums missing some tracks which he felt did not suit him and where he is at in life today.

This is a rip from the Post Mortem release. I do have the first pressing as well on underworld which is the cover shown here.

The Undead is a horror punk band formed in October 1980 in New Milford, New Jersey by Bobby Steele (vocals and guitar), Chris "Jack" Natz (bass) and Patrick Blanck (drums). Steele (then of the Misfits) and Natz had been playing with drummer Richie Matalia as a side-project called The Skabs. When Matalia departed and Steele was fired from his main band the Misfits, the trio of Steele, Natz and Blanck formed The Undead.

The Undead - Act Your Rage

This is my personal favorite Undead Lp. I absolutely love this band have for over 20+ years.

UNDEAD
Act Your Rage LP

Mr. Glen Anzalone may try to deny it, but the Misfits just about lost it all
when they chased off the driving, wild guitaristics of Bobby Steele.  The
guy's a fuckin dynamo of six-string aggression: he plants himself square in
the crossroads of Hendrix and Thunders, does amazin shit with feedback,
crashes hooks right into marshall crunch, then shrugs like it was meant to
be.  Unfortunately, the cat's also had a string of setbacks and misfortune
that'd wilt lesser men.  But, Bobby just juts his chin, plugs in, and blows.
Here be the first full-length Undead LP, and it delivers everything all Bob's
classic singles promised some core-ish moments borderin on Adolescents
territory, and whole shitload of roaring anthemic early punk in Who/Dolls
vein, with more'n a smidge of everything Bobby brought to the Misfits.  The
geezer's (as always) got a whole gaggle of isntant classic on his hands,
like 'I Don't Wanna Go' and 'We Don't Want the Poor In NYC'.  He even manages
to turn in the first 'Eve of Destruction' cover that doesn't make me wanna
puke.  It's about time Bobby started flexin' his muscles this loudly; let's
hope he can do this sorta thing more often.  -Tim S.

Nekro's Mix Tape - V1

Hello friends,
As you all know between my regular post of rare and awesome albums. I like to do joint comps with Barking Dog and StreetPunx.

Well, I have given a lil thought and I am going to step out of the box on this one and do it myself

Basically if you all enjoy them, I will do a few solo comps a month. And if not well no harm done.

I plan on mixing up the types of music I enjoy for maximum effect. There is no theme for them. Well maybe and that's what I call rock n roll.

So, with that said you will get a mix of what I am digging lately at work on the way home in my pad.

So, DL this baby and sit back and enjoy some of my favorites old and new. I will continue to do joint comps and my standard post. This is just a lil tester kids.

Enjoy,
NekroDad.

TWENTY FLIGHT ROCKERS - The New York Sessions

Twenty Flight Rockers was formed out of the ashes of Generation X by drummer Mark Laff and East London born singer Gary Twinn, who'd had a hit record in Australia with the band Supernaut. With guitarist Ian McKean and Jeff Vine on bass, they put together the band of their dreams. The kind of outfit they'd always wanted to see and hear. Musically they were digging Eddie Cochran, Elvis, Gene Vincent and Johnny Kidd but with a new post punk power and attitude. Visually they were The Beatles in Hamburg, leather, grease, motorbikes and birds. The sound was fresh, new and exciting. Just what the doctor ordered in those Duran/Goth poncy hairspray days. Twenty Flight Rockers reputation spread quickly and they were soon selling out clubs all over London. Their high regard as a live act grew such that they were named by the British music press as the top live band in the country and were subsequently invited to play the BBC's Janice Long show. ABC records release of Tower Block Rock/Weekend Revolution quickly entered the top 15 and the band was pursued and offered a deal by Warner Brothers Records. The Rockers wrote and recorded hours of material not only for an album but also three singles, a live album and an e.p. of their favourite rockn'roll covers. First release Johnny Seven just saw light of day when Warners fired most of their A&R dept and decided Madona and Prince were the only artists the British public needed to hear. Enter Bernard Rhodes. Mark knew Bernie Rhodes, the former Clash manager, from his own days with Subway Sect. Bernard saw the huge potential of TFR and immediately took the helm. He sent Gary to New York and encouraged him to write new songs from a broader perspective. Returning to London the new tracks were demoed but there was trouble in the ranks of TFR. Some members thought that others were being treated better than they. Ian was asked to leave and Danny B Harvey, from US band The RockCats, took over guitar. Bernard signed TFR to Epic Records in the States and a new album was made in Hollywood. First single Black Leather Jacket was receiving great reviews and heavy rotation by radio in LA, Detriot and New York. A US and UK tour was being planned when Epic was suddenly over-run by Sony and Twenty Flight Rockers once again found themselves with out a deal, broke and friendless. Source Myspace

The Besmirchers - Besmirch And Destory

Together for just over eighteen months, Tucson AZ's The Besmirchers have quickly made a name for themselves as one of the most explosive bands to emerge from the Sun Devil State. On their brief but brutal debut CD, Besmirch And Destroy, they tap into their collective decades of experience (the band features current and former members of the 440s, Cretin 66, Cocknoose, Whiskey Bitch, The Sophistifucks and Useless Pieces of Shit) to create 10 inspired blasts of raw, uncompromising old school punk rock. Each of the album’s songs reflects the chaos of their legendary live shows and, just like their performances, feels like it could turn into a full-scale rock and roll riot on a moment’s notice. True to form, the band has never played the same venue twice because, as one band member put it, "After we play a venue, they tend not to book live music there anymore."

TRACK LISTING: Pussy And Smack * One More Slut * Dead Fuck Girl * Daddy's Little Fuckhole * I Always Let Her Down * I Touch Myself * Unlucky At Love * Heroin Doll * Besmirch And Destroy * March Of The Besmirchers

Kommunity FK - The Scream Hollywood, CA 1985 (Live)

Kommunity FK is a Deathrock band that helped establish what came to be known as the deathrock scene in Los Angeles. The band was formed in 1978 by American rock singer Patrick Mata influenced by Throbbing Gristle, David Bowie and Joy Division. Mata also introduced his own influences, inspired by the 1916 Dada Movement, Anti Art, noise & musique concrète, plus the "cut up method" invented by Brion Gysin but executed by William Burroughs into his music. Though initially named Kommunity Fuck, the band's name was soon shortened to Kommunity FK by Patrick Mata. Mata has stated that the band's name was inspired dually by the cold shoulder given him by local unimaginative media venue talent buyers and industry powers. He dubbed the trio "kommunity fuck", and by a piece of paste-up art he created of the same name.

Their first album The Vision and the Voice was released in 1983.

Fighting Cause - Deadtown

I was thoroughly bowled over by this San Bernardino quartet's contribution ("My Crime") to the 1995 Viva La Vinyl compilation, and immediately jumped at the chance to mail-order this 7" outta the pages of Maximum Rock 'n Roll to see what else Fighting Cause had in store for me.  Just what the doctor ordered - four more power-punk nuggets bearing a similar moxie to acts like Moral Crux, Crimpshrine, and even Scared of Chaka.  Bear in mind Deadtown came on the market when the majority of the burgeoning Epitaph and Fat records stable were honing their soon-to-be ubiquitous glossy punk sound, ersatz and pedantic as it often was.  Fighting Cause put the bulk of that homogenized dreck to utter shame if you ask me.  For whatever the reason, I failed to follow up on these guys and missed a full length they released before they disbanded.  If anyone has it, please share away.

Here is the link, also if anyone has their full length S/T CD from 1996. I would love a rip. Thanks

The Wanderers - Only Lovers Left Alive

Currently out of print, this super group was sorely overlooked in the history books. Featuring Stiv Bators backed by Sham69 .

Short lived, never got attention, perfect masterpiece post punk rock 'n' roll!

After the Dead Boys demise,
Stiv went solo and released 2 LP's + singles.
Then came The Wanderers.
Lords of the New Church was soon after.

Punk fans at the time couldn't imagine the results of this band, most definitely they certainly couldn't have foreseen this bladerunner styled concept album about a teenager who stumbles onto an ex-CIA agents tapes all about who really runs world affairs, as Dr. Beter details. Razor sharp guitars, searing torches including acoustic guitars. "No Dreams" lays out an agenda that would loom large in Bator's next band. The rest of the album runs similarly bleak. Without a doubt, "Ready To Snap" is the highlight of the album and is a battle cry to commence the boot boys to teenage war. The sophistication of this work has never been properly honored, seems to have never hit,, bellowing over the heads of many a punk.

This is a true document "of the times" and therefore an essential extraction from the paths of gods we follow!

This is their original LP (released in 1981) with a bonus track "Beyond The Law".

Tracklist:

1] Fanfare For 1984
2] No Dreams
3] Dr. Beter
4] Little Bit Frightening
5] Take Them And Break Them
6] It's All The Same
7] The Times They Are A Changin
8] Ready To Snap
9] Can't Take You Anymore
10] Sold Your Soul For Fame
11] Circles Of Time
12] There'll Be No Tomorrow
13] Beyond The Law

The Wasps - Punkryonics

Long overdue compilation of Wasps stuff from the ever dependable Overground label that specialises in making this sort of music available from the less publicised and successful punk acts of yesteryear.
If you read through the Wasps entry on Punk 77 and read their interviews they come across as a bit of an enigma regarding their history. That said what's the cd like? First off it its got extensive sleeve notes and rare photos. Music wise it contains their classic Teenage Treats/ She Made Magic single and one of their contributions to the Vortex live album, the immortal Can't Wait Till '78.

This compilation however adds the demo versions of some of the best songs in their sets through the years. Best of these included is JJJenny about a Roxy punkette, Run Run Angelica and a tougher version of Rubber Cars their one single for major label RCA. Like most compilations it has its highs and lows but offers substance to the view that The Wasps were a fine band with an ear for a tune but were never going to be one of the rock'n'roll greats.

Gripes. The Wasps did two excellent John Peel Sessions. Shame they weren't included. The RCA single of Rubber Cars would also have been great to complete the discography and also their version of Waiting For My Man from the Vortex album. And lastly there no dates or personnel for the songs to place them historically.

That said for punk completists this is an excellent cd.

The Lonesome Ones - Far From Here

Far From Here is the debut release from THE LONESOME ONES and features the veteran musicianship of such hard rocking bands as LOS INFERNOS, SECOND CHANCE, LONGWAY and The LEGENDARY SWAGGER. The album is a blend of 60′s garage rock with a little bit of punk rock attitude and features guest appearances by Pete Dee from The ADICTS, Jake Cavalier from The LORDS OF ALTAMONT, Brophy Dale from LEE ROCKER, Geoff Yeaton The LEGENDARY SWAGGER and Vanessa Soto.

On “Set Me Free” things start off with some feedback and then the jump into a garage rock song that has some rockabilly twang to it mixed with a touch of punk, vocals that are a bit rough sounding, guitar playing that grabs you and a chorus that gets into your head really easily. “You Lied” has a strong rockabilly vibe that makes you want to get up and dance to from the get-go, “Far From Here” was made into a video and has some of the best guitar playing on the album, you can see why this song was made into a video, catchy, great playing and it has the feel of HAVANA 3AM which is cool. “Is She There Or Gone?” has great saxophone and was a nice change of pace with the 1950s sound that it gave the song. Other songs that made the replay button were “Leave Me Alone”, “Strings”, “Freedom” and their cover of “House Of The Rising Sun” which was dirty sounding and just made it one of the better covers of that song that I have ever heard.

With the great playing and songs on this album, these guys should be getting tons of exposure like they did on an episode of MTV’s Ridiculousness. You need to grab this album and make them a household name, you will be playing this album a lot, I know that this will be on repeat in my stereo.
