Anti-Nowhere League ‎– The Perfect Crime

The Perfect Crime is the second studio album by English punk rock band the Anti-Nowhere League. The sound of the band changed a great deal from their debut album We Are...The League album. The Perfect Crime features a blend of 1980s rock with a light punk sound. It was a big seller but the last studio album by the band before their 10 year break up.

Fields of the Nephilim - The Nephilim

Fields of the Nephilim's initial sound incorporated elements of hard rock, gothic rock, Metal and psychedelic rock, and comprised a bass and guitar driven sound underpinned by McCoy's growled vocals. Lyrically, the band incorporated magical themes, referencing the Cthulhu Mythos, the Sumerian religion, Chaos magic and the works of Aleister Crowley.

The band's classic logo
The band had a "dust and death" image, associated with characters from Sergio Leone's Spaghetti Westerns and often wore cowboy dusters with a weather-beaten look during photoshoots. This weather-beaten look was attained by dusting themselves down with, by their own admission, Mother's Pride flour. Their debut EP, Burning the Fields, was released in 1985 by Situation Two records (an imprint of Beggars Banquet Records). The band "upgraded" to Beggars Banquet in 1986 to release "Power" and "Preacher Man", and their first album, Dawnrazor. The next release, "Blue Water", was the first Fields of the Nephilim single to reach the UK charts (#75). It was followed by "Moonchild", lead single from the second LP The Nephilim which reached number 28 in the UK charts.

Psychonaut was released in May 1989 and peaked at number 35; this ten minute track indicated a slight shift for the band toward a more experimental and intense sound. This single/EP was a candle-bearer for the polished and highly-produced Elizium album (1990). Produced by Pink Floyd / David Gilmour engineer Andy Jackson (taking over from previous band producer Bill Buchanan), the album was preceded by the single "For Her Light", which clipped the British Top 40 in its first week of release. A remixed version of "Sumerland (Dreamed)", released in November 1990, peaked at number 37.

In 1991, the band played their final gigs, a two-day 'Festival of Fire' in London. The final releases of this era are the live CD Earth Inferno and video Visionary Heads, followed by the compilation Revelations.

Get The Hell was recorded at Willie Nelson's famed Arlyn Studio in Austin, TX and mixed by Dwarves leader Blag Dahlia and Andy Carpenter. The album conjures all the attitude of a band in it's prime, kicking out snarling, anthemic choruses over head-bobbing chord progressions.
"Get The Hell", the opening title track, fires a warning shot across the bow, with singer Eddie Spaghetti offering his road weary wisdom over the menacing groove of recent addition, drummer Captain Von Streicher (of Throw Rag fame). "You wanna hear about the evil and the wicked things/I'd love to tell you, but I can't because of what it brings", before finishing the sentiment in true Supersuckers form, "When you're staring down the mouth of this unruly beast/You might crap your pants or wet 'em at the very least."

On the remainder of Get The Hell, the Supersuckers spin tales of romantic debauchery ("High Tonight"), biblically proportioned excess ("Gluttonous"), hard-boiled obsession ("Something About You") and the trials and tribulations of being a total fuck up ("Fuck Up"). Never one to shy away from a good (and completely unexpected) cover song, the 'Suckers exhibit their sonic dominance tackling Gary Glitter's "Rock On" and soft rocker's Depeche Mode's popular "Never Let Me Down Again".
Since their 1992 Sub Pop debut, the Supersuckers have toured relentlessly, sharing stages around the world with Social Distortion, Bad Religion, The Ramones, Motörhead, Flogging Molly, Butthole Surfers, Reverend Horton Heat, New York Dolls, The Dwarves, White Zombie and Nashville Pussy. They have also recorded with Steve Earle, Eddie Vedder, Kelley Deal (The Breeders) and Willie Nelson, who they also backed on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

Cranford Nix

Cranford Hamilton Nix Jr. (January 17, 1969 - March 12, 2002), also known as Crannie or Little Man, was an American guitarist, singer, and songwriter. He was the lead singer and guitarist of punk band The Malakas.

Nix was born on January 17, 1969 in Detroit. His father, Cranford Nix Sr., was a one-time professional banjo player who played with Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs. He also played banjo on The Supremes' album The Supremes Sing Country, Western and Pop.

Nix was a heroin addict and had been sent to rehab four times. He escaped from rehab three of those times but stayed and completed it the fourth time. His time in rehab inspired him to write his song "Cigarettes And Heroin".

Nix was a member of the punk rock garage band The Malakas, in which he was the vocalist and guitarist. Alongside him were the bassist, DJ Holman, and the drummer, Greg Crampton. They were signed with I-94 Recordings.

Nix was the kind of guy likely to nail down a good feeling with a marriage license. Years ago he fathered two boys Aesop and Phineas that he couldn’t care for. It’s all textbook addictive behavior.
He could always find a girl with money to take care of him,” says sister Sandra Porter, shaking her head. “He had that kind of charisma".

He married a woman in Florida. She cheated on him, and the guy she was cheating with beat him up. This event inspired the song "Tattoo On Her Ass". Nix married Natatia Nix in the 2000's.

Nix was found dead in the bathroom of his Berkley apartment (2639 Columbia Rd) by his father, of a heroin overdose, on March 12, 2002.

Duane Peters And The Hunns - Unite

debut album w/ Duane from U.S. Bombs + members of the Humpers and the Pushers. "Duane Peters has been going absolutely fucking non-stop ever since he went clean. . . more so. The Hunns is the result of overflowing and never ending inspiration from an ex-alcoholic, ex-junkie genius. Duane and his droogs tear off pieces of everything wholesome and true about punk rock, (as done with the U.S. Bombs) drag it through the mill and back" - World Wide Punk

THE MALAKAS - Sorry Bout My Drinkin & Too Good to Be True & Unreleased Demo

" ... Just prior to deadline, I got the sad news that Malakas frontman and all around rock and roll motherfucker Cranford Nix died from that most rock of bitter ends, a heroin overdose. (...)
Although it wasn't completely unexpected- his demise was predicted as often as Johnny Thunders- that doesn't make it any less tragic. Cranford was one of the greatest rock and roll songwriters in America. Put on any of the Malakas albums and see for yourself. After you finish choking on the bitter sarcasm of his lyrics, you'll find hooks worthy of the Replacements in their prime, or John Easdale at his best. But he liked the drinking, and he liked the drugs, and he loved the notoriety that both brought him. I interviewed him last year, and it was such a blast, we agreed to do another interview later, for a chapter in my upcoming book on the perils of rock and roll decadence. We never got to do the second interview. I called him late in the year, and he was in good spirits, had just gotten out of jail, in fact, having served 6 months for the crime he describes in detail in our initial conversation. We agreed to talk again a week later, and I just never got around to it. Now ! I never will. It is a dubious honor indeed to present you with the final Cranford Nix interview, but I've got pay some kind of tribute to him. I've kept my original introduction intact, because, well, Cranford wasn't dead when we did the interview. He was alive as motherfucker, even sneering at the bony fingers of death pointing his way. Personally, I don't think that Cranford would've cared one way or the other about how you remember him, but I know I want to remember him as a loose lipped, grave cheating son of a bitch that was always five minutes ahead of everybody else. Wherever you are Cranford, I hope all the drinks are free." Sleazegrinder

Hello friends of the Dogs Space, I honestly can't recommend these 2 fine ROCK N ROLL albums enough. I was recently turned onto the Malakas/Cranford Nix via a friend Stephen Elliot. And honestly I cant stop playing this band. I have Listened to "Too Good To Be True" everyday after work for over a month. And this band just keeps getting better for me. I hope you guys get into and search out Cranford Nix on the web. Now its true the man has passed away. But he left us with a small body of work to enjoy.

So with that said if you love Rock n Roll, Rockabilly, Junkie Punk you will love this. Sit back and enjoy friends.

Jacobites ‎– God Save Us Poor Sinners (U.S.A. CD VERSION)

Jacobites were an English rock band formed in Birmingham in 1982 by Nikki Sudden and Dave Kusworth, following the breakup of their respective previous bands, the Swell Maps and the Subterranean Hawks.

The two had met in early 1980,with an initial live performance together in May 1982 under the name Six Hip Princes, but it was not until 1984, after Sudden had already issued two solo releases, that the duo adopted the name Jacobites (after the rebel movement to restore the Stuart line to the British thrones)and completed the lineup by adding Nikki's brother Epic Soundtracks, also formerly of the Swell Maps, and bassist Mark Lemon. The Jacobites were a more traditional, song-oriented outfit than the Swell Maps had been.Sudden and Kusworth were both strongly influenced by The Faces, Bob Dylan, glam rock, and, most vitally, The Rolling Stones — their open worship of the group (Kusworth's entire body of work would later be described as "A tear-stained meeting of Johnny Thunders' 'You Can't Put Your Arms Around a Memory', the Rolling Stones' 'Wild Horses', and Neil Young's 'Down by the River' wrapped in scarves, bound up in leather pants, and shrouded by cigarette smoke",while Sudden called the Stones "the best band there has ever been" and was working on a Ronnie Wood bio at the time of his death), combined with their velvet-and-scarves style of dressing and their girls-and-drugs style of living, made for a natural comparison with Mick Jagger and Keith Richards.

The group released a string of albums and EPs between 1984 and 1985, garnering increasing critical interest, a certain appreciation in the British underground, and great popularity in Germany, but also began shedding its original members in the latter year — Soundtracks to Crime & the City Solution, Kusworth to a well-regarded but ill-remembered solo career.
With the breakup of the songwriting team at its heart, the Jacobites became little more than a name for the shifting backing unit Sudden used for his solo career. An American compilation was released in 1986 after the band's boozy, weary-eyed brand of romantic songwriting gained the devoted support of the similarly-minded Paul Westerberg, and another comp followed in 1988, but the group would not exist again in meaningful form until 1993, when Sudden and Kusworth rejoined forces to recreate the Jacobites with a new lineup that featured Glenn Tranter on guitar, Carl Eugene Picôt on bass, and Mark Williams on drums: all friends from Birmingham. A series of obscure releases followed throughout the mid-1990s, doted upon by the band's cult following, particularly in mainland Europe, but otherwise generally ignored. After God Save Us Poor Sinners appeared in 1998, the Jacobites remained silent while Sudden and Kusworth continued their solo careers. With Sudden's death in 2006, the band is now permanently defunct.

Flower Leperds ‎– More Songs About Dames, Dope, And Debauchery

Ok one more here before I call it a day. This one is quite cool. The Flower Leperds hail from LA and had been around a few years prior to ex-Adolescents Tony Cadena joining. They recorded a fantastic Ep for Mystic and then kind of went stale. Tony joins and Things Start Moving (an Adolescents song). This cd is a career round up from time that Tony joins them. If you like The Stooges and adding a little doomish goth/metalish stuff then this is for you. Me? Love it!!!
